The Legend of Puntan Dos Amantes (Two Lovers Point)

Once long ago, in the time when Spain ruled Guam, there was a proud family living in Hagatna, the capital city.  The father was a wealthy Spanish aristocrat and the mother was the daughter of a great Chamorro chief.   The family owned land and were highly esteemed by all, Chamorro and Spanish alike.
Their daughter was a beautiful girl, admired by all for her honesty, modesty, and perfectly natural charm. Her beauty bestowed the greatest pride and dignity unto her family.
One day, the girl's father arranged for her to take a powerful Spanish captain as her husband.  When the girl discovered this, she was so distraught that she ran from Hagatna all the way to the north of Guam until she found a secluded and peaceful shore.
There, on the moonlit shore, she met and fell in love with a young warrior from a very modest Chamorro family.  He was gentle, with a strong build, and had eyes that search for meaning in the stars.
When the girl's father learned of the two lovers, he grew angry and demanded that she marry the Spanish captain at once.  That day at sundown, she stole away to the same high point along the shore, and once again met her Chamorro lover.
Her father, the captain, and all the Spanish soldiers pursued the lovers up to the high cliff above Tumon Bay.  The lovers found themselves trapped between the edge of the cliff and the approaching soldiers.  All the young warrior could do was warn them to stay back, and the father ordered the soldiers to halt.
The lovers tied their long black hair into a single knot.  And acting as if they were entirely alone, they looked deeply into each other's eyes and kissed for the final time.  Then they leaped over the long, deep cliff into the roaring waters below.
Her father and all who remained rushed to the edge to stare in great anguish.
Since that day, Chamorros have looked to the jutting peak above Tumon Bay with reverence.  The two lovers remain a symbol of true love--a love in which two souls are entwined forever in life and in death.  Forever after, the high point on the cliff was known as Two Lovers Point.

People leave hearts an locks on the fences surrounding the area to show their love for one another.

Wacky Fam

SOOOOO I thought I'd just slap some pics up here, so here goes.

So during the first week my cousin Gavin an I decided to drive around to some of the closest beaches an explore. First we stopped an saw Lady Liberty's smaller cousin. Ha. It was actually pretty stormy that day as you can tell by the dark clouds comin in. But the rain hits in heavy spurts, soaks you through an is gone again.

Here he's being the lil mermaid. He's a nut job, haha. Ya'll would love him, he's got a TON of energy but he's super cool an the easiest person to get along with. A very lovable crackhead. Ha.

This seriously almost looks like the Oregon coast but the water here is possibly the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. No lie. I can just sit an stare at it for hours. Here you can't really tell but it's still a gorgeous blues. =)

Here's three of my adorable 2nd cousins. From L to R. Illy's buddy Juan, the adorable Mathias (it was his birthday) and the pretty Amaya. Mathias turned three an it was Firefighter theme as you can see and he is like the most beautiful boy ever, he's such a little boy, even with his long curly blonde hair and he has the cutest raspy voice. I love all three of these kiddies though! Anyhow, Mathias's mom (my cousin) Mona knows the fire chief an so she had them come by with the firetruck while the party was goin on. When it pulled up Mona freaked out more then the kids! ha she was hollering and screaming with excitement, telling Mathias to get out there. He hurriedly put on his firemen gear on  and ran to the truck. They got to climb all over it. It was super cute. =)

He's actually trying to hit a pinata here, it was super hard to break.

Now Amaya's turn to SWING!! But she can't break it open either...

Thus ensued Gavin's crazy antics while trying to break open the Pinata so we could all finally have some candy! =)

Matapang Beach

Day ONE! We went to Matapang Beach right near Hotel Row. We were trying to go to Ritidian Beach. It's this beautiful beach my fam went to last time they were in Guam. I was in my Uncle Steven's car with my cousin Gavin and in the second car was my Grandma and Grandpa with my mom and Uncle Jerry. Well we drove out to Ritidian and there's a TON of potholes! We were literally like bouncing from side to side. Ha. Then we saw it was closed for construction stuff so we tried to go out to one of the private beaches nearby. Uncle Steve decided to try a dirt road with even worse potholes, we got half way down that road an decided to turn around and go all the way back. It was a long ride an we really wore out Grandma. Whoops.

Here's the beautiful Guam beach, Matapang. Wonderful blue water, really calm, it's a good distance from the reef here, so waves don't really come in.

So first time swimming in the ocean, guess what happens!!?? Well I'm with my mom an we go swimming out a bit farther, we're just floating an chilling and I put my leg down to stand up an as soon as I do I feel this really sharp jab in my leg. Well at first I though it was a stick or something but then I realize there's nothing below me but sand. So I swim back in shore a little and my mom and I look at my leg an there's a perfect imprint of TEETH in a circle on my leg. I was like "A fish just BIT ME!!" An there was this Japanese guy near me with a camera an snorkel gear an he keeps saying, "coral fish, coral fish." Apparently he saw it bite me and both him an his son had gotten bit too! My uncle swam out there to try an find it to capture it but it was darting around like freaking out. It was a Hawaiian needle fish. They have like these long beak like mouths an he said he thought it was maybe trying to protect it's eggs. So below is the bite, it's kinda hard to see but it was a good bite an it later bruised. Dumb fish! Ha. Of course it went for the white meat. ha.

Well that was my first time in the beautiful, warm, sometimes mean Guam ocean. Ha.

Peace an Love!

Hafa Adai all my friends!
Finally I'm posting, it's been nonstop action here, haha. Not really but it has been busy. I safely made it into Guam at 1:30 in the morning last Thursday after traveling for 24 hours. Phew.
It was a long trip an there were a heck a lot of asians, haha. I flew into Japan and had a 4 hour layover. It was weird because half of them wear mouth protector things and they have CRAZY style. I was gonna try and take more pictures but since I'm not really Asian, I didn't quite feel as comfortable taking pictures of every random person and thing. Ha. BUT I did get a pic of their crazy toilets, I even tried the water button on it, so weird an kinda gross. haha.

And I even picked up a souvenir. =). It's Asian looking enough. And I'm like dead tired here, so I look a little dazed cuz at that point I had been traveling for about 16 hours with little sleep. Whee! The 10 hour plane ride from Seattle to Tokyo wasn't actually that bad but it was hard to sleep for long periods.

Well I'll post some more later tonight. For now CIAO!!
